Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Tila Tequila and the Alt-Right

The people who run the National Policy Institute (NPI) — a key institution of the Alternative-Right that Hillary Clinton will pillory today in a speech attacking its connections to Donald Trump — have always been suit-and-tie racists.

They eschew ethnic slurs and violence, dress in preppy “business casual” outfits, and declare that the aim of their “think tank” is “to elevate the consciousness of whites” and protect America’s “national identity.” “We have to look good,” NPI chief Richard Spencer once explained to Salon, because normal white people would not join a movement that appears to be ‘crazed or ugly or vicious or just stupid.”

These are the men and women, or so they say, who are thinking out the path forward for intelligent white people as they face dispossession and amalgamation.

And then there’s Tila Tequila.

In a little-noticed announcement, Spencer and the NPI recently boasted that it would hold a “Celebrate the Alt Right!” conference at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 19. It will be a celebration, the announcement said, of “the year of Donald Trump,” a “time when more joined our movement than ever before.” Its roster of speakers includes leading white nationalist thinkers.

But the night before, there will a steak dinner and cocktails hosted by the Radix journal, which is an NPI spinoff edited by Spencer. And on a panel, along with Spencer and the racist comic Ramzpaul, will be the fetching Ms. Tequila.

Tila Tequila is no intellectual. Her claims to fame include being the most popular person ever on MySpace, posing nude for a series of men’s magazines, hosting a strip-tease TV show that featured the “Pants-Off Dance-Off,” and recording timeless standards like “I F----- the DJ.” She’s made a lesbian sex tape, played a Hooters waitress in the execrable “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” claimed that she is a goddess, asserted that the world is flat, and spoken of “winged planets.”

Oh, one other thing — the presumed reason Tequila got her invitation from the intellectual leaders of the white race: For several years now, Tequila has been saying that Adolf Hitler was a great man, “a special and sweet kid who had a dream to become a painter.” “Hitler was a good man and it takes some f------ balls for someone to say this,” wrote Tequila, who often refers to herself as HiTila. She also posted a Photoshopped picture of herself standing in front of the Birkenau death camp wearing an SS cap, a swastika armband, and very little else.

It’s not known what Tequila might be called upon to discuss at the dinner panel — she is best known for her buxom exhibitionism, her fondness for scanty clothes, her claims to have lived 500,000 years, and her terrible music — but she is presumably seen as a great draw for the men who form the bulk of the NPI’s enthusiasts.

The news of Tequila’s forthcoming appearance comes just as Clinton is about to make a major speech in which she is slated to attack the Alt-Right and its alleged connections to the Trump campaign. For close to a year now, the Alt-Right and other racist groups have been thrilling to Trump’s bigotry. But Tequila’s role at the NPI conference doesn’t do much for making the Alt-Right appear serious. Still, she did recently post a Photoshopped picture of herself in her Birkenau Nazi outfit standing next to Trump in the Oval Office that Clinton might want to highlight.

Here’s the kicker. Tequila isn’t even white. Her real name is Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, and she is an immigrant from Singapore — precisely the kind of person who the deep thinkers at the NPI say is wrecking America and Western civilization.

No matter. The boys of the NPI are apparently feeling randy.
