“These wins are not just about creative excellence; they’re about courage. Apathy Is Not an Option amplifies the voices of people in the South who are speaking truth to power, no matter how abusive that power has become and who are resisting injustice wherever they find it,” said Bryan Fair, interim president and CEO, SPLC. “Indifference fuels inequality and this podcast reminds us that silence is complicity — and that apathy has never been an option for those fighting for freedom. I’m tremendously proud of my colleagues for their efforts to bring the voices, stories and histories of resistance in the South to light.”
Apathy Is Not an Option amplifies the experiences of people confronting systemic inequities and fighting for change — from voting rights and education to economic and racial justice. Produced by the SPLC’s Digital team, the series continues to inspire listeners to act, engage and reimagine what justice can look like in the South.
