MONTGOMERY, Ala – The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has released a new Extremist File on Jack Posobiec, a political operative and propagandist well known for creating and amplifying viral disinformation campaigns.
Often falsely referring to himself as a journalist, Posobiec gained prominence after spreading disinformation on Twitter during the 2016 Presidential Election cycle. He helped lead the “Stop the Steal” campaign, which cast doubt on the outcomes of the 2016 and 2020 elections He has collaborated with white supremacists, European neofascists, members of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. He has repeatedly used his prominence as a public figure to promote Russian military operations.
The SPLC’s Extremist File documents Posobiec’s:
• Extensive disinformation agenda
• Ties and work that has benefited Russia
• Ties to white supremacists
• Ties to Polish neofascists
• Male supremacy agenda
“Over the last few years, Jack Posobiec has arguably become the most active spreader of hate and disinformation on social media,” said Michael Edison Hayden, senior investigative reporter for the Southern Poverty Law Center. “His motives are apparent to anyone who has watched him work. He’s actively trying to undermine our democracy and tilt this country in a hard right, authoritarian direction.”
The profile also includes links to videos which illustrate his collaboration with neo-Nazis, Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, spreading disinformation regarding #PizzaGate and Richard Spencer’s take on his rise.
Extremist Files published by the SPLC contain in-depth profiles of individuals who are key figures on the radical right, including David Duke and Alex Jones. The SPLC does not list individuals as hate groups, and not all of those profiled are members or leaders of hate or extremist groups.
