The Southern Poverty Law Center is deeply saddened today by the loss of longtime donor and board member Andrew Fredman, 58, who recently died.

Fredman held a keen interest in serving the SPLC and made his first contribution in 1988, when he was studying economics at Tulane University. In 2010, he joined SPLCā€™s board of directors and has for years served on the SPLCā€™s investment committee.

ā€œWe will always remain deeply grateful to Andrew Fredman, who was committed to our fight for equality and justiceā€ said SPLC Interim President and CEO Karen Baynes-Dunning. ā€œAndrew was a beloved member of our community, and through the many ways he contributed to our work helped make a difference in the lives of so many people. He was a part of the SPLC family and will be greatly missed.ā€

Fredman received an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City and later was a managing partner and chief investment officer for Fir Tree Partners. Since 2015, he has been a managing partner at IngleSea Capital.

While working in New York City and serving on the SPLCā€™s board, Fredman also advised a college preparatory school and served on the Deanā€™s Advisory Council at Tulane. Throughout his career, Fredman remained actively engaged in a variety of philanthropic endeavors.
