Radical Right Theories Flourish in Aftermath of Sikh Killings

Posted in Antigovernment, Conspiracies, Domestic Terrorism, New World Order, Patriot by Ryan Lenz on August 9, 2012 - 4:56 pm

With last weekend’s mass killing at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin fresh in the public’s memory, the usual players on the conspiracy scene have begun crafting wild, alternative narratives of what really happened.

The theory has started to spread that the attack was orchestrated by some dark sector of the federal government in order to justify rolling back gun rights. This idea, of course, has long been used by the antigovernment right to explain acts of domestic terrorism: Oklahoma City, for example, and even the jihadist attack on the Twin Towers in 2001. The Wisconsin version has appeared on dozens of right-wing blogs and appears to be gaining traction.

Infowars, the conspiracist website maintained by Alex Jones, seems to have led the charge. In an article published earlier this week after neo-Nazi Wade Michael Page killed six people in Oak Creek, Wis., writer Kurt Nimmo accused the federal government – and, ludicrously, the Southern Poverty Law Center – of somehow being tied to the shootings. The proof? Only dubious claims pulled from Page’s life story. The alleged skinhead gunman was in a psychological operations unit in the Army during the 1990s. ( continue to full post… )

Conspiracists Adopt NRA Talking Points on UN Arms Treaty

Posted in Conspiracies, Extremist Propaganda, New World Order by Leah Nelson on July 19, 2012 - 3:42 pm

Nothing spooks antigovernment conspiracy theorists like the United Nations and its international treaties – particularly when it comes to perceived threats to their right to bear arms.

So naturally, far-right paranoiacs really have their panties in a twist over the proposed Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which would establish standards for the international trade of weapons.

Since UN talks about the ATT began on July 2, FrontPage Magazine, Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government, WorldNetDaily, and myriad other far-right “news” outlets have issued panicked articles denouncing the treaty as plot to gut the Second Amendment, destroy America, and pave the way for the establishment of a one-world government. Tea Party Nation: Oath Keepers is Last Line of Defense Against Tyranny

Posted in Antigovernment, Conspiracies, Hate Groups, New World Order by Ryan Lenz on July 10, 2012 - 4:50 pm

The Tea Party Nation, one of the more extreme factions of the Tea Party movement, has dipped deeper into the conspiratorial waters of antigovernment lore, most recently promoting the Oath Keepers and other antigovernment “Patriots” as the last line of defense for Americans increasingly confronted with “a government verging on evil.”

In a post published over the weekend on the Tea Party Nation’s website, regular blogger Alan Caruba painted a dire picture of the threats to freedom that lie in wait under President Obama, whom he calls a “red diaper baby” and a far-left functionary “raised from birth and mentored to embrace communism.”

“Obama’s disregard for the Constitution, its separation of powers, and Americans suffering greatly from his policies, suggests that he is not beyond making the greatest grab for power using a bogus ‘national emergency’ or manufactured ‘crisis’ to declare martial law,” Caruba wrote. He goes on to cite three recent executive orders as proof positive that Obama is setting up the nation to abandon its constitutional mandates and wage an all-out campaign against freedom. Tennessee House Falls Victim to ‘Agenda 21′ Conspiracy Theory

Posted in New World Order by Marilyn Elias on March 14, 2012 - 5:31 pm

Editor’s Note: The Tennessee House of Representatives passed the resolution condemning Agenda 21 by a vote of 72-23 on March 15.

In a new sign of antigovernment extremism creeping into the political mainstream, the Tennessee House of Representatives will vote tomorrow on a resolution condemning Agenda 21, a non-binding United Nations plan for sustainable development.

In the world of far-right extremists, Agenda 21 is demonized as a sort of Trojan horse, part of a larger scheme to shatter Americans’ liberties and institute a totalitarian, one-world government known typically as the “New World Order.” ( continue to full post… )

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane –Wait! It’s the New World Order

Posted in New World Order by Ryan Lenz on November 1, 2011 - 3:56 pm

During the 1990s, as many recall, the “black helicopter” became a symbol of the antigovernment “Patriot” movement’s unshakeable paranoia and cartoonish insistence that the choppers would soon be coming after those freedom-loving dissidents who knew the truth about the New World Order.

Well, the helicopters are back. ( continue to full post… )

Watchmen on the Walls Return to Latvia

Posted in Anti-LGBT, Intelligence Report, New World Order by Casey Sanchez on November 1, 2007 - 12:50 pm

Over the past two years, the Watchmen on the Walls have brought their traveling anti-gay road show to Sacramento, Seattle and Riga, the Latvian capital. In Seattle last month, they were greeted by more than 100 protesters, who challenged the Watchmen’s beliefs that gays are a threat to society and were instrumental in orchestrating the Holocaust. In Latvia this March, American Watchmen leaders tried to pass themselves off as envoys of the US White House, a claim refuted by White House spokesmen.

This Nov. 14-18, they’ll return to Riga, where they will be joined by Americans Larry Jacobs and Don Feder of the World Congress of Families. Feder is involved with several extremist groups. He is a member of the board of advisers of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an anti-immigrant group whose leader has compared immigrants to bacteria. Last year, speaking at a conference put on by the anti-gay group, Vision America, Feder said the goal of the gay rights movement was to “transform us so that Salt Lake City on a Sunday morning looks like today’s San Francisco on a Saturday night.” ( continue to full post… )

Minnesota Bridge Collapse Explained — Sort Of

Posted in Conspiracies, Media Extremism, New World Order by Heidi Beirich on August 9, 2007 - 7:43 am

gg-jeromecorsi2.jpgSo now, according to Swiftboat mastermind and conspiracy-monger par excellence Jerome Corsi (right), last week’s deadly Minneapolis bridge collapse is not the result of years of subpar maintenance or a design flaw on a bridge declared “structurally deficient” in 1990. Absolutely not. A far more sinister cause lies behind the collapse.

Corsi argues on the right-wing WorldNetDaily website that the bridge collapsed because it was being used as part of a North American “SuperCorridor.” The so-called SuperCorridor is just one part of a nefarious, secretive plan by global elites to merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a “North American Union” (NAU). Corsi also has written that the NAU may be part of an “executive branch coup d’etat.”

It makes you wonder what else Corsi can blame on the fictitious North American Union. The collapse of the subprime mortgage industry? High oil prices? Global warming?
